YOG team remains on four medals

Jordan Scott and Shenice Cohen were the only Jamaicans in action yesterday, as both finished outside the medal positions at the International Olympic Association Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China.

With just the 8x100m mixed relays of interest for Jamaicans on today's penultimate day of competition in the Chinese city, Jamaica remain on four medals (3 gold, 1 silver) with Jaheel Hyde (110m hurdles), Martin Manley (400m), Natalliah Whyte (200m) taking podium-topping spots with Obrien Wasome winning a silver medal in the long jump competition.

Scott posted a 15.20m mark in the men's triple jump final to finish fifth behind gold medal winner, Suriname's Miguel Van Assen. Van Assen had a best of 16.15m with Tobia Bocchi (Italy), 16.01m, taking the silver and Azerbaijan's Nazim Babyev, 15.96m, capturing the bronze.

Competing in the women's 400m hurdles final, Cohen ran seventh in a time of 1:03.06. The event was won by South Africa's Gezelle Magerman, 57.91, ahead of Michaela Peskova (Slovakia), 58.26 and Denmark's Anne Kirkegaard, 58.60.
