Man's bail reduced after mom's pleas

DEON P GREEN, STAR Writer

A mother's plea for a St Thomas man before the Yallahs Resident Magstrate's Court on gun charges resulted in his bail condition being reduced when he appeared on Wednesday.

The case is that of Dwayne Shakespeare of a Morant Bay address accused of shooting Damion McQueen in the shoulder.

While the circumstances, surrounding the shooting was not revealed, Shakespeare was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as shooting with intent.

When the accused appeared in court, the resident magistrate reduced his bail condition from $300,000 with two to three sureties to $250,000, after his mother said she faced challenges for him getting bail and pleaded with the RM.

Allegations against Shakespeare are that on November 19, last year, he shot 29-year-old Fabian McQueen of a Morant Bay address in the left shoulder.

Shakespeare has been booked to answer to the gun charges in the Gun Court in Kingston on September 12
