Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A policeman who is charged with attempted murder and rape was again remanded when he reappeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Andre Thomas of Eltham Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine, and attached to the St Thomas police division will reappear in court next Tuesday, August 26.

When the matter came before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green, the complainant did something mind-boggling.

She attempted to give the accused man a love letter, which prompted the intervention of Clerk of the Court Nicole Kellier.

The police eventually intervened and the woman was prevented from carrying out the surprise act.

the accused man's attorney, Lawrence Hemsley Williams, made a bail application which was denied.

The allegations are that, in early June, Thomas lured one of the complainants to a section of Eltham Park where he reportedly beat her and attempted to light her with tyres.

She begged for her life and was spared. He is said to have gone to the house of the other complainant afterwards where he sexually assaulted the teenager.

A report was made and an investigation launched which resulted in the director of public prosecutions ruling that he be charged.
