Plagued by injuries, ten-time national champion Kenia Sinclair has only ran four 800 metres races since 2012, but the 34 year-old has not pulled the plug on her career just yet, as she continues to work her way back to the track with the hope of a return next season. Sinclair, a finalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as well as the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, has had her fair share of injuries over the years and finds herself struggling to shake a back problem that kept her out of contention for last year's World Championships in Moscow. However, the athlete told STAR Sports yesterday that though it has been a constant mental and physical struggle, she is determined to continue her career and has set 2015 as her comeback year. "I will be back," Sinclair said from her home in Gainesville, Florida. "2015 for sure, I will be back for sure. I am just working hard, holding the faith and I know that with God all things are possible and I'm just remaining positive. I know that once my injuries calm down, I will be back on the track next year." "I think my main issue is struggling with the injuries that I have and it's still there but it's just about getting over the injury itself as well as the mental part. I'm still dealing with injury and I'm in the process of getting over it but the mental part is so hard to get over," Sinclair said. Sinclair, who won six of her 11 meets on the circuit in 2011 in one of her best years prior to her injury and who has a personal best of 1:57.88, said she has been working on getting back in the right frame of mind following her setback, noting too that watching from the sidelines has been a painful experience for her. "Every time I try to get back into it I find that I am doing too much thinking, my mind is actually working more than the physical part," Sinclair said. Still, the 2006 World Indoor Championships and Commonwealth Games silver medal winner is convinced that she will be back competing strongly in the coming months.
