Hi-Pro has teamed with Tennis Jamaica - the governing body of tennis in Jamaica - to bring back the exciting 2014 Hi-Pro All Jamaica Tennis Championships to the Liguanea Club from August 16-23 after a 15-year hiatus.

The championships will feature the island's top players vying for over $500,000 in cash and prizes in the men's and ladies' singles, as well as the men's and ladies' doubles.

Speaking at yesterday's launch at the Liguanea Club, president of Tennis Jamaica, John Bailey, welcomed Hi-Pro's sponsorship of the All Jamaica Tennis championships which he said had been in hiatus because of lack of financial support. He noted that over the years, the All Jamaica Tennis Championships was the premier tournament that produced top-ranking players and was considered the local equivalent to the US Open and French Open.

vibrant atmosphere

"This year, we will be introducing the much-anticipated All Jamaica Tennis Over-35 champion and All Jamaica Tennis Over-45 champion and we look forward to Hi-Pro's continued support," Bailey said.

Retail business development manager for Hi-Pro, Dayne Patterson, said a number of sponsorship partners have been invited to join the division in creating a vibrant atmosphere of non-stop entertainment for patrons, including giveaways and product sample stations.

"We at Hi-Pro are pulling out all the stops to make this event a memorable one for both the players and spectators," he said.

Registration for the 2014 Hi-Pro All Jamaica Tennis Championships closes tomorrow at 4 p.m.
