![]() Bishop Canute McKenzie - George Henry GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Name: Canute McKenzie Church you attend: Oneness Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Position in the church: Bishop; supervising four churches, three in Clarendon and one in Manchester. How long have you been a Christian?: I have been saved now for 39 years. Tell us about the moment you got your conviction: My conviction was a very peculiar one. I was not preached to; no minister of religion or pastor ministered to me. I got saved, surprisingly, from a tape recorder. I was at the house listening to a tape recorder, and God spoke to me through the tape recorder. I went to church that same night and got baptised. What has been your most challenging moment since becoming a Christian?: My most challenging moment is the present churches that I am supervising, because ministry presently, in comparison to 20 years ago, is totally different. Ministry is very challenging. The people that you are dealing with are more difficult to deal with. You have to be a pastor who is understanding, who understands the needs of the people; and you have to be one who is holistic in every area of ministry, because ministry is totally different from twenty years ago. What has been your most miraculous moment since becoming a Christian?: The most miraculous moment I have had took place one day while we were having fasting at church. I was teaching during the fasting, and one of the female saints fell ill. I walked off the platform and went down into the congregation and saw her gasp, taking her last breath, and I looked at the other saints and indicated to them that she was dead. We then started to pray, and then all of a sudden, her eyes turned over, and she came back to life. It's the first I experienced a miracle like that, and I can tell people that God is a God who heals, and He works miracles. Message to Christians: My message to Christians these days is that you need to read the signs of the time. Everybody is asking when the Lord is coming and how comes the Lord has not returned as yet. But in these days, the preachers hardly have to preach to anybody to let them know. So I want to advise Christians in the church today to read the signs of the time, follow the word of God and look for His coming. Message to non-Christians: Do not wait until your heart becomes 'Gospel hard' or tough. That is, hearing the Gospel over and over again until you become accustomed to hearing the preaching of the Gospel. Do not wait until you reach that time. It is time that you accept the Lord Jesus Christ, because the world is getting worse and worse. Favourite Bible scripture: Philippians 4 verse 13 Favourite line of one of your favourite songs: 'When I see Jesus some day, all my problems will be over'. Feedback: pehenrya@hotmail.com
