Star Tell Me Pastor

My mom is cheating with her 'cousin'

D

Dear Pastor,

I am having a problem with my mother. I live with my father and my mother and two of my siblings. I am 15 years old. In August this year, I went to Jamaica with my mother to visit our relatives. My father could not go because he just got a promotion at his workplace. So he could not take the time off.

While in Jamaica, my mother kept going out at nights with a man she called our cousin. But I did not know this cousin. I asked her from which side of the family is he and she did not give me a straight answer. At first, I did not believe anything bad about my mother until one day I asked her whether I can go with her and she said no. I was suspicious, so after she left I asked one of my cousins who the man was. And he asked me if I really don't know and I told him no. He said that it was my mother's boyfriend. I asked him if that means that they were not just friends and he said I should not repeat what he told me. But they are more than just friends.

In October, I heard my mother and father having an argument and he accused her of cheating with a man in Jamaica and she denied it. When my father was not at home, she asked me if I said anything to my father about the man with whom she went out and I told her no. And she asked me how he knew certain things and I told her I didn't know. Now my mother is showing me bad face because she believes I took news to my father on her.

I love my mother and I love my father, also, and I swear I did not tell him anything about my mother's going out while we were in Jamaica. I am asking you kindly to tell me what to do.

N.P

Dear N.P,

You know you have not taken any news to your father about your mother and you have told her so. Your mother's conscience is probably bothering her. Continue to be respectful and obedient to your mother. I hope your father would never ask you what transpired in Jamaica between your mother and any man, but if he does, tell him that the only thing you are sure about is that she went out sometimes in the evenings with a male friend whom she said was your cousin.
