Jamaican jockeys have 55 rides

Jamaican jockeys Trevor Simpson, Latrris Allen, Blandford Stewart and Phillip Clunis have 55 rides among them at at Grand Prairie's Evergreen Park, Alberta, Canada, this weekend, starting last night.

Simpson, who leads the standings after three days with four winners, has 14 mounts.

He won the first two races race of the season at Evergreen after he and his fellow Jamaicans moved from Lethbridge.

Allen, who beat Simpson in the Park, has wasted no time to settle in after finishing second to Larris Allen in the thoroughbred standings at Lethbridge.

Simpson booted home four winners at the weekend, two on Friday and split two over Saturday and Sunday.

Allen, a veteran on the Canadian circuit, was the top jockey at Evergreen Park last year. He had 114 starts with 35 wins, 18 seconds and 15 thirds, winning $114,174 in purse money.

Simpson won the first race of Evergreen Park's summer meet last week Friday, scoring with C. C.S ORFIN ANHEY at four furlongs for a CAD$3,000 purse, beating fellow Jamaican Phillip Cluinis' mount.

He won the second race, CAD$3,000, with AFFLICTION, going five and a half furlongs. On Saturday, he landed the fifth with BENT TUNE, at a mile, beating Clunis on PAIGE's PEAK , clocking 1:39.0 in the CAD$6,800 claiming stakes race.He won Sunday's 10th race aboard CARELESS HUNTER in the Sprint Series Stakes, five and a half furlongs, in 1:04.1, for a CAD$6,500 purse.
