A Jack of all trades in church |
|||||
![]() ![]() Ann-Marie Chamberlin GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer Name: Ann-Marie Chamberlin Church: Grange Hill New Testament Church of God, Westmoreland. Position: Sunday-school teacher, prayer-ministry member, fasting leader, among other things. I am one of those persons who can be referred to as a Jack of all trades in the church. When did you get saved?: I got saved more than 14 years ago. Tell us about the moment you got your conviction: I was going to Savanna-la-Mar (Westmoreland) one day in a car. There was a young lady sitting in the front of the vehicle, saying something about Juanita Bynum. She was so excited, and I questioned how she was so excited. Something started to bubble up inside of me and I said it must have been the anointing. By the time I got out of the car I was almost on the ground. Something hit me and she was right there to take me to her pastor, who prayed for me. He (pastor) used the scripture Proverbs 31, about the virtuous woman. I cannot forget. I was teaching at a prep school at the time. From I received that anointing, I never went back to the prep school. I entered ministry and now I am at Bethel Bible College in Mandeville. What has been your most challenging moment since becoming a Christian?: My most challenging moment has to do with my faith. One has to wait on God. His time is different from ours. If you want something, you ask Him for it, and you have to wait for it, and that is where most Christians backslide, because the waiting period is different for everyone. So that's the most challenging thing. The other thing is when you are called, and you have to depend on Him totally for everything. Those are my challenging moments. Message to Christians: Christianity now is not what it was like before. The thing is, instead of depending on God and looking by faith, they are looking by sight. It is hard to look by sight when you are dealing with God. He says He is a faith God, and it is impossible to please Him without faith. The Bible tells us that the just should live by faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. So that is my motto. Message to non Christians: One day this earth shall burn like an oven, leaving neither root nor branches, so if non Christians are willing to burn, then that is their story. They need to take into account that this world is temporary. One day we will leave it to be judged, so we have to put our life into perspective so that we can really inherit what God has intended for us from the beginning. Favourite verse in the Bible: Colossians 3:17 Favourite line of one of your favourite songs:'I never lost my praise, no matter what I am going through.' Feedback: pehenrya@hotmail.com |
