Angara Sinclair of Jamaica

Small but productive, the 12 members of Jamaica's youth swim team returned to the island from the CISC swim championship in Barbados last week with 20 medals; four gold, nine silver and seven bronze, following five days of competition.

In the boys' (15-17) category Sidrell Williams won two gold. In the 100m and 200m butterfly he clocked 57:68 and 2:11:32, respectively.

Williams successfully contributed 32 of the team's 205 points.

In the (18 and over) girls' category Trudi-Ann Patrick won gold in the 200m, with a time of 2:22:64. Similarly, Angara Sinclair won the (13-14) category in the 50m butterfly with a time of 31:47.

Danielle Boothe was awarded the overall high performance title in the girls (15-17) category after copping six medals; four silver and two bronze.

Four of those medals included two silver in the girls (15-17) 200m and 400m individual medley, with times of 2:26:85 and 5:15:87, respectively. She was second best also in the 50m/200m backstroke 31:48 and 2:27:21, respectively. While her two bronze medals came in the 100m backstroke 1:08:54 and 100m butterfly with 1:05:59 in that order.

The nine silver medallists were Danielle Boothe with (4), Alexia Royal-Eatmon 1:07:97 in the (18 and over) 100m backstroke, Trudi-Ann Patrick 1:04:93 in the (18 and over) 100 m butterfly, Annastazia Chin 32:30 in the (13-14) 50m backstroke and Danielle Boothe 31:48 in the 50m backstroke.

Timothy Wynter also claimed silver in the boys (15-17) 50m backstroke.

Leanne McMaster claimed bronze in the girls (15-17) 200m breaststroke at 2:55:28, along with Patrick 29:50 in the (18 and over) 50 m butterfly.

Jamaica's team might be considered small when compared to its Caribbean neighbours, but coach Gillian Millwood remains impressed with the overall performance.
