Having been a student of both Sizzla and Vybz Kartel's camp, dancehall artiste Chancela is aiming to make his mark in the music industry with the release of the music video for his single, 'PLY'.

PLY was produced by Supa Hype at 007 Records and Tragedy Entertainment. It is receiving steady rotation on local radio. The song will be released on iTunes, July 22. The artiste hopes the accompanying music video will boost the song's popularity.

The video was filmed in Montego Bay, and directed by Konsep.

"Chancela is the head of the musical street university, in the same way as a chancellor is head of a university," he said explaining the concept behind his name.

Chancela has had his share of ups and downs in the music industry and was forced to leave the island after failed attempts to get the elusive breakthrough.

"I knew Sizzla Kalonji's mother and she made the necessary connections. Sizzla gradually took me under his wings at Judgement Yard. I immediately quit my employment of four years with the thinking that this was an opportunity of a lifetime. "Unfortunately, two years later, I was still at Judgement Yard, waiting to be recorded. I was so frustrated, I took a trip to United States and returned to Jamaica six months later, more driven, fuelled and renewed, ready to get recorded because music is my life," he said.

The artiste hopes PLY will be the single that brings his music to a commercial level and fulfil his dreams of becoming a successful recording artiste.
