His filing is hindering our relationship |

Dear Pastor,
I love the advice you always give to everyone. I have several problems. I am twenty years old, going on twenty-one. I have been with my boyfriend for three years now. We have been engaged for two years. He is 34 years old and I really want to get married and baptised. I want to become a Christian and he wants to become a Christian, too, but he has a filing in process right now to go to America. I have been told that it takes approximately 10 years for the process to be completed and this is the 10th year. But we have not been hearing any word from the person who is filing for him. I feel as if I am wasting my time with this man. Please tell me what to do. I am constantly depressed. We have a child together and we operate a business. We are trying to build a life together, but only God is missing. Depressed. Dear Depressed, Your boyfriend hasn't done you anything wrong. He has no control over the filing process. However, what you may do is to contact the person who is trying to file for him and ask what's the latest news that he/she has received from immigration. An immigration lawyer might be able to advise you also. My understanding is that, after all the necessary documents are with immigration, you just have to wait until they contact you. Do not be tempted to pay anybody to expedite the process, it will not work. You will be wasting your money. I know you have a concern about getting married. That should be discussed with an immigration lawyer. Follow the advice that you are given and don't do anything that would hurt your man in the future. I wish you well. Pastor |
