A St Catherine man who attempted to use a fake identification card to bail a man pleaded guilty to fraud charges in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

He is Craig Bailey, otherwise called Vernon Collman of Bonnet district in Guys Hill.

When the matter came up, the accused told the court that he was guilty of breaches of the Bail Act. His lawyer, Earl Hamilton, told the court that his client was young and naïve.

"He just left the rural parts of the parish to Spanish Town and got caught up, he is young ... ." Hamilton said.

Bailey was then ordered remanded until July 17, when he is to be sentenced.

It was revealed that on June 3, 2014, Bailey went to the Spanish Town Courts Office to secure bail for a man accused of larceny.

He presented, land title and a voter's identification card bearing his photogragh and the name Vernon Collman.

When the documents were checked, it was revealed that the card was fictitious, as well as other documents.

The police were called in and Bailey was held. He later gave a caution statement that he did not even know the Justice of the Peace who endorsed the documents. He was subsequently arrested and charged with fraud.
