DJ Bambino plans 'Generation Y' school fête

DJ Bambino

With just a few weeks left in a hectic school year, radio personality and Digicel brand ambassador, DJ Bambino, through his Youth of the World (YOW) Foundation, in association with Digicel and Zip 103FM, will host the summer's first teen party.

Titled 'Generation Y High School Fête,' the event is set to take place at Mas Camp on Saturday, June 21, starting at 6 p.m.

The event is being held to celebrate the end of the exam period for secondary schools. The fête is therefore being touted as the official de-stresser under the moniker, 'Exams done, time fi have fun!' With performances by young superstars Samantha J and QQ, plus music by some of Jamaica's top disc jockeys such as Chrome, Chromatic and Bambino, patrons can expect an evening of great vibes and pure fun.

inclusive high-school fête

The inaugural staging of the youth inspired $1,000 all-inclusive (non- alcoholic drink and food) fête, signifies the return of an integrated and inclusive high-school fête.

According to a release sent to The WEEKEND STAR, research has indicated that Jamaican teens have been deprived of the opportunity to socialise in the spheres afforded to previous generations. In fact, youth nowadays are socialised via television, social media and video games.

It is against this background that the organisers, Bambino and Delroy Escoffery, believe that the target audience needs the exposure to this traditional form of entertainment.

"We want our event to serve as a reminder of what it truly is to be 'young, hip and cool' and educate our patrons that the need to party as youths in a safe and fun environment is not lost," the release stated.

All proceeds will go towards Youth of the World (YOW) Charity Treat and Family Fun Day on August 23.
