Whereas some pundits claim dancehall music has reached its limit, in terms of creativity, there are others who disagree.

One such person is UK-based dancehall/reggae artiste Willy P.

The hard-working singer/musician/engineer, from St Thomas, believes with injection of new ideas and sounds, dancehall music will experience even more success, internationally, than it has in the past.

"A lot of people keep talking about the '90s and they keep comparing what's going on now with the past. It's a fact that the '90s were the glory days of dancehall music. Several of the biggest and most successful dancehall acts came to the fore during that particular decade.

However, things have changed a lot since then. A lot of the stars that came in that era are growing old. It's up to us, the new generation, to infuse new energy and ideas in music, that's the only way it's going to grow and get back to a high point," he said.

According to Willy P, there is a great demand for Jamaican music in the UK, as well as other countries around the world.

"It goes without saying that Jamaican music is widely loved in Europe and hundreds of other countries all over the globe. Once we can clean up the music and produce it, according to worldwide standards, it will become more popular in these territories.

This shouldn't be hard because all the new music technology is available in Jamaica."

The hard-working singer is confident he and his team at Hardway Records will play a part in triggering the next dancehall revolution.

"My label is producing a lot of good dancehall music, a lot of it is my music, but we are also working with other acts. So far, we have released a number of good singles and the response has been very positive. So we will continue to work hard to promote our brand of music because we believe we can contribute to the resurgence of dancehall music," said Willy P.

The artiste is promoting his latest single, All Night, and he is also getting ready to drop new singles for the summer.
