Some members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force are crying foul after they claim some senior ranked officers are allegedly depriving them of money earned for providing security for private entities.

A police constable based in the Corporate Area told THE STAR that she and several of her colleagues have yet to receive payment for providing security at a popular marathon held weeks ago.

The officer also told THE STAR that this is not the first time she has encountered such difficulties receiving payment, and claims that it is the senior officers who are to be blamed because they are allegedly pocketing the money.

"The higher ranked police are taking the cash from promoters and store owners for us to provide security and they're not paying us. We have to be out there doing the overtime and not getting our money," the irate officer said.

Another police constable based in Clarendon told THE STAR that this complaint is common among his colleagues, "it's a normal thing here, they take long to get paid, like six months after the event or even longer. Dem get the money fi dem self, and don't waa let go."

Chairman of the Jamaica Police Federation, Sergeant Raymond Wilson, told THE STAR that the federation has indeed received complaints from officers about the late payment or non- payment.

"From time to time, we get complaints about late or non-payment, whenever we get these complaints and the federation intervenes, the matters are usually resolved, even though not immediately."

As it relates to the allegations that some senior officers are presumably pocketing money paid over by private entities to provide security, Wilson told THE STAR that he has received no such reports.

"We have never received any reports that money was taken by persons in high or low stations, we are dismissing it categorically, we have no evidence to that."
