Jamaica's Shacaya Thomas views his selection to the West Indies/Sagicor High Performance Centre (HPC) 13-man squad as another opportunity to showcase his batting credentials.

The second leading runs scorer in this year's regional first-class championship, Thomas was at the weekend added to the HPC ahead of today's second four-day match against Bangladesh 'A'.

The game will be played at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

"I view it as one step closer to the West Indies senior team, and, now that I am in the eyes of the selectors, all I need to do is perform consistently to make the next step up," said Thomas.

Thomas, who made 22 for Jamaica XI against New Zealand during their drawn opening tour match at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium, also said it felt good being selected to the HPC for a second time.

He was a member of the HPC team, which participated in regional one-day tournament in 2012.

"It feels good to be a part of the team, and, hopefully I will get to play," he said.

"It means that all the work I have been doing is been seen and has been rewarded."

Thomas, who plays for the Combined Campuses and Colleges, ended the regional four-dayers with 548 runs at a tournament-high average of 45.66, is one of two additions to the HPC.

The other is Windward Islands fast bowler, Nelon Pascal.

The HPC lead the four-day series 1-0, courtesy of a 351-runs win in the first game last week. The Bangladeshis are also slated to play three one-day and two Twenty20 matches.
