Douglas Thompson, the attorney who is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, is to return to the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court on October 10, when the matter will again be mentioned.

When the case was called up before RM Lyle Armstrong on Friday, it was revealed that a register that was subpoenaed by the defence could not be found.

The court was told that while the Station Diary at the Portmore police station was located, the Breathalyser Registry at the Ferry police station where Thompson was taken could not be located.

As a result, defence attorney Churchhill Neita, QC, and Delano Harrison asked that another subpoena be sent as the book in question was crucial to the defence's case.

RM Armstrong then ruled that the October date will be a priority one as the matter has been on the list from 2012.

Allegations are that on September 18, 2012, Thompson was driving along George Lee Boulevard in St Catherine, when his vehicle was stopped by the police. The police reportedly told him that he was driving in a reckless manner and was believed to be under the influence of alcohol.

They requested that he accompany them to the Ferry Police Station where a breathalyser test was requested, and he reportedly refused.

He was subsequently charged by the police and has made numerous court appearances since, maintaining his innocence.
