Nine members of New Zealand's 15-member squad arrived in Jamaica on Sunday for their five-match tour of the Caribbean. The squad, which is scheduled to be fully assembled before the end of the week, is headed by rising prospects, batsmen Hamish Rutherford and BJ Watling, and left-arm seamer Trent Boult. The trio, who, along with their teammates, landed at the Sir Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, were influential in helping their team record a 2-0 Test series win over the West Indies last December. Captain and lead batsman Brendon McCullum and most of the other six players have been participating in the Indian Premier League. Those who are yet to arrive include batsmen Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson and Corey Anderson, fast bowler Tim Southee, and all-rounder Jimmy Neesham. New Zealand will play three Tests and two Twenty20 Internationals during their month-long visit. The opening Test is set for Sabina Park, beginning on June 8. They are also slated play two tour matches against Jamaica at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium ahead of the first Test. The first tour game, a two-dayer, is set to start on Thursday, while the second, a three-dayer, will get going next Tuesday. New Zealand squad: Brendon McCullum (capt), Peter Fulton, Hamish Rutherford, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Corey Anderson, BJ Watling, Luke Ronchi, Jimmy Neesham, Mark Craig, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult, Ish Sodhi. |
