Jamaican shot dead in New Jersey

André Williams, STAR Writer

A Jamaican man was shot and killed on Sunday in Paterson, New Jersey, outside a house where investigators alleged a party was being held.

The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Oneil Linton.

According to www.northjersey.com, Linton died early Sunday morning of apparent gunshot wounds in the city's eastside neighbourhood, outside a home where neighbours said a party was being held.

Reports are that a witness across the street from the home at 526 14th Avenue said she heard two gunshots around 5:30 a.m. and looked out the window to see the victim, Oneil Linton, being beaten with the gun while lying on the ground.

Linton's body was found next to the passenger side of a silver Honda motor car.

THE STAR gathered that Linton was commonly called 'Fuzzy', and that he migrated from Jamaica some five years ago with his father.

Friends of the deceased told reporters that Linton migrated to the US for a better life and that he was a 'people person'.
