Man remanded for setting another on fire

A man accused of setting another man at on fire at a party was further remanded when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The accused, Omari Riley, 20, of a downtown Kingston address, pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The crown alleged that, on the day in question, Riley, a party promoter, is believed to have set afire the sleeping complainant, who was a patron at the event on fire.

The complainant, who appeared in court, had visible burns on sections of his skin.

Riley was further remanded by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey and is to return to court on May 20 for a mention hearing.
