HAPPY MOTHER'S EVERYDAY!

"This column is a no-judgement zone where mi jus talk mi mind and give mi advice!"

I don't care about the details of how I got here, but I'm happy you were chosen to carry me.

After you served your nine months of labour - time - you didn't have to, but thanks for keeping me.

Even though I changed your figure and rearranged your life when I finally arrived, thanks for being happy to see me.

When crying and making other random sounds were my first language, thanks for understanding me.

I crept, I walked, I ran, I spoke; thanks for teaching me.

Having me was your first experience, yet you quickly learned to do your best with me while remembering how to manage yourself, while taking care of home, the true definition of being a don, thanks for governing me.

tomboy at heart

As an explorative mind, I climbed on every object in sight against your instructions, thanks for reaching for me.

To prove that Barbie dolls weren't real, I burnt them up with fire, thanks for outing the flames then preaching to me.

An adventurous tomboy at heart, I dismantled and rebuilt every appliance in the house, thanks for being patient with me.

Against your instructions again, mi teef outta di yaad fi climb tree and play stone-war, and even though I disobeyed you, when I got injured, thanks for nursing me.

When you realised that I was a unique child as I had an advanced and natural talent to create and relate to art, thanks for enhancing me.

adult activities

When I thought I was grown enough to have a boyfriend and do adult activities, you fed my mind with wisdom, thanks for protecting me.

Even when you don't fully understand why I do what I do when I do it, thanks for never rejecting me.

In you I've found home and outside of you I've learnt the definition of unconditional love.

There's much more to add to what I've written above to express my first experience of true and consistent love, from a queen, a mother, a sister and friend.

Not limited to this article I'll tell you till the end, thanks for being you, thanks for being true, thanks for being flawed yet perfect just for me.

Forget May 11 on the calendar that tells us to celebrate you on a Sunday, Happy Mother's Day simply because it's a Friday.
