QQ surprised at huge St Maarten fan base

QQ

It was his first time performing in St Maarten and dancehall artiste QQ was quite taken aback that fans knew his songs, word for word.

He performed at the International Show Reggae, which formed part of the St Maarten Carnival celebrations.

"It was a great experience and the fans were singing the songs, word for word. Jack Hammer, my latest single, was also well received. It got probably the biggest forward from the crowd," an excited QQ said.

QQ's hour-long stint saw him reeling off hits such as Roll Out, Stookie, Tek It To Dem, Never Know The Use and award-winning One Drop.

Fans would not allow QQ to leave the stage and clamoured for more. However, due to the show's time constraints, he was not permitted to extend his set.

QQ's collaboration, One Drop, which features fellow dancehall artiste Venomous, was recently named Song of the Year at the Linkage Awards. The song, produced by Stashment Productions, topped local and overseas charts last year.

QQ left the island on Wednesday five shows in Canada, including a performance at a school hall/auditorium, a multi-purpose stadium and three club dates.

QQ's latest single is Turn Me On, produced by Tarik 'Russian' Johnston. A video for the track is to be shot in Miami, Florida, USA, next week.
