August Town have dropped out of the country's elite football league.

Their relegation was a confirmed yesterday following 2-1 loss to Montego Bay United in the 2013-14 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL).

With two rounds remaining to complete preliminary play, August Town are bottom of the 12-team league with 27 points and cannot escape finishing among the last two teams, which are designated for demotion.

Rohan Williams had given August Town faint hope with a goal at the 17th minute, but Winston Wilkinson (68th) and Kemiro James (87th) scored to turn the game in the home team's favour at Wespow Park.

Victory confirmed MoBay United's place among the semi-final qualifiers, as they moved into third spot on 51 points.

Also confirming their spot was Arnett Gardens, which moved to 49 points following a 0-0 draw with Sporting Central Academy at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

The point took Sporting to 38 points and seventh position, more than a game off the other relegation position.

Portmore United, a club with a lot of pedigree and stature, currently occupy the next relegation spot at 11th on 33 points.

They are behind Boys' Town (34), who will tackle Cavalier (36) in the Monday Night Football encounter at Stadium East tonight at 8:30. Both these teams are in danger of being demoted so they have a lot to play for.

Rivoli United confirmed their place in next season's competition, while Humble Lion (37) eased their fears, as both recorded wins yesterday.

Rivoli, with goals from Kemar Bennett (18th) and Devon Hodges (84th), beat Portmore United 2-1 at Bramwell Clarke Sports Complex in Linstead to move to fifth on 41 points. Paul Wilson (21st) scored for Portmore United.

Humble Lion, in the meantime, powered to a 3-0 win over sixth-place Tivoli Gardens (39) through goals from Omando McLoud (4th, 74th) and Roberto Fletcher (78th).

Leaders Waterhouse kept up their immaculate form with another win, thumping second-place Harbour View 2-1 on goals from Marvin Morgan (40th) and Juvane Benjamin (77th). John-Ross Edwards netted an injury-time consolation for Harbour View, which stayed on 52 points, seven less than Waterhouse.
