A female passenger on a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) sustained injuries after the bus was shot at on Saturday night. According to reports, at about 9 p.m., the JUTC bus, which was laden with passengers, was plying the Greater Portmore to Kingston route when the incident happened. In a release to the media, Minister of Transport, Dr Omar Davies, condemned the shooting stating, "the shooting was nothing other than an act of terrorism". This is the most recent in a series of attacks against the bus company, following the introduction of its new sub-franchise system, which commenced on April 8. Earlier this month, persons threw stones at two JUTC buses resulting in the shattering of windscreens. |
