St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will go in search of a second title this season when they meet Vere Technical in the final of the inaugural ISSA/Digicel Rural Twenty20 competition at STETHS.

In what will be a repeat of the Headley Cup final, which saw STETHS coming away 253-runs victors, the encounter is set to get under way at 1p.m. today.

The third place play-off between dethroned Headley Cup champions Manchester High and Cross Keys High will serve as a curtain raiser.

"It should be a tight battle as it is Twenty20 cricket, and in the format, it is not so much the make-up of a team, but who turns up on the day," said STETHS coach Clive Ledgister.

"However, in terms of personnel, I think we have a better team, and in the end, we will come out on top.

"We lost our two titles last year, including the 35-overs Knockout, and the goal this year is to correct that," he added.

STETHS will be led by West Indies Under-19 captain and spin all-rounder Ramaal Lewis, who will also look to another regional youth representative, Marquino Mindley, for inspiration.

This is in addition to in-form batsmen Shadid Crooks and Javoy Spence.

Spence made 43 and Mindley 22 in their 78 runs semi-final win over Cross Keys on Thursday.

Vere, in the meanwhile, will look to their West Indies Under-19 player, spin all-rounder Fabian Allen, along with national Under-19 spinner, Thavi Spencer.

"Last year, we beat them in the 35-overs KO final, and this year, we are looking to do again," said Dewith Coleman, coach of Vere.

"We are generally a team not to hold back, and knowing my players, they will be going there to play their shots."

Vere, in their semi-final game, defeated Manchester High 44 runs under the Duckworth and Lewis scoring system.
