Garnet Jr takes on Jamaica's music landscape

The reggae music landscape has opened its arms wide for yet another talented and inspiring artiste, Garnet Jr.

Garnet Jr, real name Garnet Smith Jr, is the son of the legendary reggae crooner Garnet Silk. And, like his father, the younger Smith is positively affecting listeners with ,smooth and melodic voice.

He is confident and aware of what's at stake but most importantly ardent on carving out his own legacy in music while continuing that of his father's.

"Music is an inborn thing for me being that my father is Garnet Silk. Because of his death, he was unable to fulfil his destiny, and so it is only right I use my talent for this very purpose," said Garnet Jr, who did his first professional recording at age 13. "I will continue to do good music, also will cover a few of his well-known and unknown tracks."

He has matured over the years since and has impressed many circles with the track Tired Of Running, which features Sugar Black of Black Judah, and Duce Califa.

His other singles, We Can Par, Call It Quits and Condolences, are all doing extremely well as he has managed to strike a chord on both sides of the gender aisles.

The feedback has been overwhelming, says Garnet Jr, who is gearing up to release his first EP.

"I am very happy with the progression thus far; the feedback is tremendous so far" he said.

Garnet Jr has also done a soundtrack titled Eyes On The Horizon for a soon-to-be-released movie called 'Destiny', starring Christopher Martin and Karian Sang.
