Excelsior, Wolmer's net outright semi wins |

Reigning champions Wolmer's Boys and Excelsior both made winning starts to the semi-final round of the ISSA Grace Shield cricket competition yesterday.
Wolmer's beat Ardenne by six wickets in Group One at Up Park Camp, while Excelsior got the better of Jonathan Grant in Group Two at Mountain View Avenue. Resuming on 223 for five on the second and final day, Wolmer's declared on their overnight total in a bid to get full points and it worked. victory target They dismissed Ardenne for 214 thus setting themselves a victory target of 115 off 12 overs, a task they accomplished with two balls remaining. Malcolm White, 52, and Daniel Griffiths, 22 not out, led the batting onslaught by the Wolmerians. Ardenne had earlier made 124 in their first innings. Excelsior, in the meanwhile, won by an innings and four runs. Replying to Jonathan Grant's first innings score of 107, they went on to make 205 in their first innings. Orlando Rowe, 57, Raywin Senior, 38, and Shema Lindo, 22, made most runs for the victors. Jonathan Grant, batting a second time, were bowled out for 53, with Rowe, three for two, and Orande Pearson, three for five, taking most wickets. In another Group One game, Eltham got the better of Kingston College (KC) on first innings at Elletson Road. |
