Former national senior men's football coach, Geoffrey Maxwell, has parted company with Humble Lion FC following a meeting with club president, Mike Henry, yesterday morning. "After a meeting with the president (Mike Henry) this morning (yesterday), a decision was made to part company with the club," Maxwell told STAR Sports when contacted yesterday. "The president wants the club to move in a different direction than was given when I took charge. Craig Butler is now director of football at Humble Lion. The plan now is to get players into the international market," Maxwell disclosed. Henry, when contacted yesterday afternoon, said that the club was preparing a release to send to the media. However, up to press time the document was not availiable. no-nonsense approach Maxwell took over at Humble Lion in December 2012, following the resignation of Lenworth Hyde and his then assistant Max Straw. The veteran tactician, known for his no-nonsense approach, guided Waterhouse to the National Premier League title in 1998. He has also coached at clubs such as Tivoli Gardens, Arnett Gardens, Seba United, Reno, Wadadah, Village United, St George's SC, Highgate United and Constant Spring. In addition, after taking up a two-year contract with Hydel Group of Schools in the ISSA/LIME Manning Cup football competition in 2012, Maxwell's contract was not extended. He guided Hydel to the Manning Cup final in 2012 where they lost to St George's College in the final, and the quarter-final round last year. Now, losing both jobs in three months, Maxwell could be at a crossroads in his coaching career. |
