Marva Bernard - File

President of Netball Jamaica (NJ) Marva Bernard would not confirm reports that incoming technical director Jill McIntosh is set to receive a $5 million salary package over six months, in the midst of the recent wage disagreement with former national coach Oberon Pitterson-Nattie.

Pitterson-Nattie refused to accept a new contract with the association, which would have taken her to the 2015 World Netball Championships in Australia.

Information reaching Star Sports suggests that the major issue stemmed from Pitterson-Nattie's refusal to accept the NJ's new contract because of a salary dispute. Bernard, however, would not comment.

"Salary is not people's business and so we are not going to discus that," said Bernard.

The 43-year-old Pitterson-Nattie was appointed head coach of the Sunshine Girls in May 2011 after replacing Connie Francis in the lead-up to the World Netball Championships in Singapore. The Sunshine Girls finished fourth at the tournament.

Bernard said a part of McIntosh's duties would be to help prepare the Sunshine Girls for the Commonwealth Games in July. The NJ boss also stated that McIntosh will be assigned to work with all the national coaches, as well as the six coaches in the semi-professional league, which is due to start later this month.

"As she has always done when she is here, she will be conducting coaching seminars in some of our parish associations and we are very excited about that because it means that she will come and leave us in a better place," Bernard said.
