Boys' Town head for Guyana tour

Boys' Town Football Club will participate in the Vizion Sound tournament in Guyana from March 5-9 in order to expose talent abroad.

The club is set to depart the island on Monday, with 18 players and three officials. They will return on March 10.

The tournament was postponed from last October because of rain. Boys' Town are ready to give exposure to a squad that includes three schoolboys.

"The purpose of the trip to Guyana is to get needed exposure and experience for the players," coach of Boys' Town Andrew Price told STAR Sports yesterday.

"It will be good for our players to play against players from other countries," he added.

Vizion Sound, promoters of the tournament that also includes three clubs from Guyana, is known as a music company, but in recent times added football as part of their promotion.

"Well, the link was made because of Vizion Sound and Boys' Town through music. They decided to strengthen the relationship by inviting us to this tournament and we duly accepted," Price said.

Boys' Town will not be involved in tomorrow's Red Stripe Premier League as the scheduled game against Harbour View has been postponed. Harbour View have four players that are away on national duties.

Boys' Town will play their first game on March 5. The full squad are listed: Kirk Porter, Leon Goffe, Asrick Samuels, Hugh Evans, Michael Campbell, Andre Dawson, Shane Edwards, Richard Clarke, Victor Thompson, Daemion Benjamin, Peter Keyes, Rafiek Thomas, Kevin Blackwood, Marvin Stewart, Rohan Scott and Tevin Garnett. The officials include Andrew Price (coach), Omar Edwards (assistant coach) and Kimathi Nkrumah Makonnen (manager).
