Windies ODI captain Dwayne Bravo hailed a solid batting performance by the regional team, as they posted a solid 269 for six in a 15-run win over England at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua yesterday. Bravo formed the base of a crucial 6th-wicket stand with Darren Sammy, which carried the team from a dangerous position of 153 for 5 to a competitive total. Sammy slammed 61 off 36 balls, including four sixes and five fours. Bravo believes the attitude in the team was right from the start. Batting group "I think there was belief we believed as a team despite the start we got as a batting group. We knew coming down to the end as long as we keep getting wickets and the run rate kept going up we knew it was gonna be difficult," Bravo told journalists after the game. The skipper also commended Sammy for a determined knock, which saw the team take a 1-0 lead in the series. "At one point we looked like 220, but Sammy's innings got us to 270 and we thought we could defend that. Our batters did very well, we actually had a game plan and stuck to it and ensured we batted deep into the overs." Bravo said. |
