PRINCESS POPSTAR (Percy Williams)

GAGA LADY returns deceptively trained but potently weighted at 47.5 kilos for tomorrow's eighth event, which features three-year-olds with eyes on this season's classic races.

The grey filly left the half mile third, three lengths behind PRINCESS POPSTAR, in December's Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes, before weakening into eighth place under Trevor Simpson.

She had also lined up with PRINCESS POPSTAR in her previous race, the Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy, and showed up prominently behind the Horse of The Year in the seven-furlong race.

PRINCESS POPSTAR is blessed with extraordinary speed, making GAGA LADY's half-mile run behind her no ordinary feat, carrying 55.0 kilos, same weight as the flying filly who ripped splits of 46.3 and 1:10.3.

Returning tomorrow with 47.5 kilos, though she hasn't raced since Boxing Day and faces speedy colts, COGNAC and LOCKED AND LOADED, GAGA LADY is a cinch at the handicaps.

When she won on her second start at 1200 metres, GAGA LADY cantered home in 1:14.0 under Dick Cardenas. Her next two races were against PRINCESS POPSTAR, the Pick-3 Super Challenge and Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes.

Disregard GAGA LADY's final position behind PRINCESS POPSTAR. Note the featherweight she will carry tomorrow, in addition to the manner in which she had won her maiden race.

Lorenzo Robinson, GAGA LADY's owner, trainer and breeder, does not drill his horses at exercise. His QUEEN PAULA, who won the 1200-metre Hotline Stakes two weeks ago, didn't get a five-furlong gallop either.

GAGA LADY has been similarly trained, a half mile in 50.2 Monday morning, coming from a filly who literally cantered 1:14.0 for six furlongs as a two-year-old in November.

Form players should enjoy themselves as BLACK THORN, REASONABLE PRESS and ONE CREATOR are ready-made winners.

BLACK THORN has been reprogrammed by trainer Patrick Chang and will be administered lasix for the first time. She has responded well in training, posting 1:30.0 for seven furlongs Sunday morning, making her hard to beat against maidens at 1500 metres.

REASONABLE PRESS is confidently expected to make amends for his loss to UNCLE TAF at 1400 metres two weeks ago. The United States-bred six-year-old horse should outclass the local filly, PRINCESS SHANEIL, at 1500 metres.

ONE CREATOR gets his easiest task in four starts this year, all good efforts against better horses, and should make no mistake at 1400 metres.
