A man accused of using a machete to beat a woman all over her body had the charge against him dismissed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Ryan Davis, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The Crown alleged that Davis used a machete to hit the female complainant in her mouth, back and fingers.

"We were fighting and mi call the police to call him and talk to him, and dem arrest and charge him," the complainant said.

Subsequently, the court heard the complainant deviating from her original written statement, which was read by the clerk of court during the proceedings. Instead of being assaulted with a machete, the complainant, who is believed to be in an on-and-off relationship with Davis, insisted he used his hands. As a result, the complainant made a request to have the case dismissed.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey dismissed the charge.
