A nurse who was a passenger on a public passenger vehicle said she was shocked to hear the lewd music schoolchildren were playing on the bus.

She is aware that the law prohibits the playing of such music on buses. She said she is still in shock to know children from high schools were so disrespectful.

"My car broke down last week, so I had to take a bus on my way home from work," she explained.

"When I boarded the bus in the Corporate Area, I heard music coming from the back of the bus. I noticed that four boys and two girls were sitting at the back. They had a device playing certain type of lewd music. I must tell you, I am still in shock. I could not believe that schoolchildren could be so disrespectful. They were actually gyrating and singing to the filthy music, at times.

"There were some small children on the bus, and I wondered how the driver allowed them to behave in this fashion. If such music is banned on the buses, I could not understand how the driver turned a blind eye to it.

"I was tempted to speak to the students about their behavior, but when I remember reports of how violent and rude some of them can be, I did not bother. I was speaking to a passenger who was sitting beside me and she said sometimes the students behaved really horrible on the buses.

"I was compelled to speak to the driver when we reached the terminus. I asked him why he allowed the students to behave like that on the bus. His response was that he did not want anyone to kill him leaving his young children.

"I suggested that he did not have to speak to them but could instead call the police to stop the bus and then deal with the students in the appropriate way.

"It really pains my heart to know that some of our students are going down the wrong path. I have since written to the company, asking that they tell their drivers how to deal with such behaviour on the buses. If it is against company rules that rowdy behaviour is not allowed on the buses, the rules should be obeyed", she said.

There are numerous reports of students behaving in a disorderly manner on buses. However, it must be noted there are rules governing how commuters should behave on public passenger buses. Persons who breach the rules must be aware that they can be removed from buses, or arrested and charged, if they commit serious breaches.
