Cavalier registered an upset of sorts in the Red Stripe Premier yesterday when they recorded a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over former champions Tivoli Gardens in an encounter at the Stadium East. Claudius Blackburn, Jermaine Ricketts and Girvon Brown were the scorers for the David Lalor-coached Cavalier. The victory has moved Cavalier to 28 points, nine behind leaders and defending champions Harbour View, which will oppose Montego Bay (33) United today at the Wes Pow Park field in Montego Bay. Tivoli are on 27 points. In the day's other games Arnett Gardens (31) played to a 0-0 draw with bottom-place August Town (21). Humble Lion (26) played to a 1-1 draw with Boys' Town (25) and Rivoli United (24) also played out a 1-1 draw with Sporting Central (28). Arnett Gardens coach Jerome Waite blamed his team's draw against August Town on his attackers, who had an awful day in front of goal as they created a number of clear-cut chances, but failed to hit the target. "If you don't score then you are not going to win," said Waite. "Today, the August Town team didn't have anything to offer in attack and so it was just them trying to keep us out, but we also kept ourselves out by not scoring," he said. "The amount of chances that we created, we should have at least put away even three of them. It is a disappointing draw, so we just have to look to our next game," Waite said. Striker Kevin 'Pele' Wilson, who returned to Arnett Gardens in January from August Town, along with Kamal Malcolm, André Clennon, Kenniel Hyde and substitute Jason Moore squandered a number of opportunities as they failed to hit the target on a number of occasions. |
