![]() ![]() Minister Kemar Campbell GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer District youth and discipleship director, deacon, Sunday-school teacher, choir director and teen-ministry adviser number among the responsibilities of Minister Kemar Campbell at Frankfield New Testament Church of God in Clarendon. All these duties have been carried out by Campbell, who has been walking with God as a born- again Christian for the last 13 years. He was saved at age 15, when most persons are engaged in attending parties and other places of amusement. "The truth is I was pulled to Christianity by a girl who I liked. In order to get close to her, I had to be a Christian. So after giving my heart to the Lord, I really fell in love with the thing (Christianity) and continued serving the Lord," said Minister Campbell. Though it was the girl who had caused the young minister to enter the church, Campbell said he did not succeed in getting her to be his girlfriend, because she migrated to Canada and got married. However, that did not deter him from serving God, as he continued and is now in training at the Bethel Bible College in Mandeville to become a pastor. "I am actually, first, a trained teacher by profession, having attended Bethlehem Moravian College. After graduating, people were telling me consistently that there is a call on my life. "I remember when I was at Bethlehem, a lady specifically said to me that I did not belong there because I should be in a Bible school. I just allowed that to run by," said Campbell. He said other persons shared the same sentiments and gave him the desire and encouragement to enter Bible school. He said he struggled with the idea of entering Bible school for some time and it became a sort of a burden on his mind. "I struggled with it, tried to run away from it, but could not. The moment I made the decision to enter Bible school was when the burden was lifted. So, there and then, I knew I should have been in Bible school, and ended up here finally," he said. Minister Campbell said becoming a Christian is the best decision one could ever make. He said he enjoys every moment as a Christian because, as the scripture says, 'in God's presence there is fullness of joy; and at His right hand there are pleasures forever more'. "I was in sin, and coming to Christ I realised that the fullness of joy and pleasure that I find in God cannot be experienced anywhere else. So being a Christian is the best decision I have ever made in my life," said the young minister. Campbell noted that when persons are in sin they feel as if they are really enjoying life and are really having a great time. He wants persons who are living a life of sin to know that when one gets a God experience, and makes a comparison with their previous life, they would realise there isn't really anything that can be compared with a God experience, because it is incomparable. "Somebody out there in sin should simply try Jesus and you will never regret the decision to try Christ. There you will really find fullness of joy," said Campbell. The young minister qouted Jeremiah 29:11 as his favourite scripture verse. His favourite song is This is my desire. He said his desire is to preach the Gospel and to make Christ known. He added that after leaving Bible College it won't be so much about leading a congregation and pastoring a church, but it will be what God says. "So if it is pastoring a church, if it is just being a lay person in my church, just helping out in my church or just going around being a roving preacher, then so be it. I will continue in education after finishing Bethel, I will do a Masters in education and come back to theology. So I will balance both. My desire is to be a principal one day at any institution," said the young Christian leader. Minister Campbell pointed out that it would be good for him to be a preacher and principal, because it would be a great opportunity to get the Gospel across to young people. Feedback:
