Arnett Gardens FC had a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Humble Lion FC in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) at Effortville Community Centre playing field in May Pen, Clarendon, yesterday.

The Jerome Waite-coached Arnett Gardens continued their good form courtesy of goals by Newton Sterling in the 76th minute and new signee Renae Lloyd a minute later. Wolry Wolfe scored for Humble Lion in the 57th minute.

Wolfe gave home team Humble Lion the lead in the second half, but Sterling scored his eight goal of the season to put Arnett level. Then a minute later, Lloyd, who transferred from Boys' Town earlier in the week, found the winner for his new club.

At the UWI Bowl in Mona, August Town and Cavalier battled to a 0-0 draw. Home team August Town missed several good goalscoring chances, and Cavalier considered themselves lucky to leave with a point.

August Town dominated the run of play, but were let down by poor finishing by Larone Russell and Javanie Mitchell. Cavalier goalkeeper, Devon Haughton, who transferred from Harbour View, made some good saves.

"It is not one of our better performances. I think they (August Town) got a lot of opportunities to win the game," coach of Cavalier, David Laylor, told STAR Sports. "For us this draw is okay, as we played away from home. We thank God for the point as we could have lost the game if they had not missed some easy chances," he added.

Meanwhile, coach of August Town, Baris Johnson, was disappointed with the result. "I am very disappointed, as we missed simple chances to win the game. We created the chances but could not finish," Johnson said.

August Town are rooted at the bottom on 15 points in the 12-team RSPL, while Cavalier moved to 22 points.

"We are trying our best to stay as close as possible to the teams ahead of us. We have to work from here and see what happen," he added.
