Also Correct a good bet |

ALSO CORRECT should stamp her class on tomorrow's Eight Thirty Sprint at 1000 metres straight, taking on a field of maidens, only that she is not a maiden, well, sort of. The Wayne DaCosta-trained runner passed the post in front on October 21, beating BIG BAD LINKS and subsequent winner TALENTED TONY K. However, her number was taken down for causing interference to the runner-up. ALSO CORRECT is a half-sister to ALL CORRECT, who won the Governor's Cup in the stewards' room and was also runner-up in the 2000 Guineas and Jamaica Derby two years ago. She has a similar running style to her half-brother - not too hurried in the early stages of races. However, she obviously has some class about her and has beaten horses who returned as winners, TALENTED TONY K being the most recent. On debut, she chased home QUEEN PAULA at 1000 metres round with HIJA DE REINA, a return winner, a length and a half behind in third place. Despite breaking from post-position one, ALSO CORRECT's class should have her close to the pace before her mid-race speed kicks in on entering the main track with Dick Cardenas aboard. It should be a good day for ALSO CORRECT's dam, Royal Pizazz, as ALL CORRECT should land the opening event, an overnight allowance at a mile. ALL CORRECT appeared to struggle when beating PISCEAN ROCKET in a non-winners-of-four on New Year's Day. However, that was his second race in 18 months, having returned from a 16-month lay-up on November 17. Cardenas rode a measured race when turning back PISCEAN ROCKET by a neck, doing just enough to get ALL CORRECT home after shaking clear of the pesky PRINCESS SHANIEL. For a horse who was out for the second time in 18 months, clocking 1:19.1, against three-year-olds at the top of their game, was a smart performance by ALL CORRECT. He will be even more suited to tomorrow's mile in a weaker field, bar his stablemate, EXOTIC GOLD, who Cardenas chose not to ride. ALL CORRECT galloped seven furlongs in 1:30.0 last Saturday morning and looks set to romp the seven-horse field. Other sure shots on the 10-race card include SPARKLE HAVEN in the third after an eye-catching third-place effort behind the down-in-class pair of ROYAL VIBES and HOMBRE at a mile last Saturday. COUNTRY TRAIN appears back to her best after slamming rivals by six lengths two weeks ago and should use her speed to cripple the field at 1000 metres round in the fifth. |
