RAGING PROSPECT paid the price for a speed duel with HOMBRE last time, losing in a driving finish to the stalker MILITARY MOVE but returns significantly better at the handicaps for tomorrow's Fan Appreciation Day Trophy.

Running with 56.0 kilos, RAGING PROSPECT knotted up on the lead with HOMBRE for seven furlongs, allowing the renowned pacer 13lb at 1820 metres.

MILITARY MOVE watched the action from third, pounced on the duo entering the lane and held a renewed challenge from RAGING PROSPECT inside the last half furlong, eventually surviving a stewards' enquiry.

In addition to RAGING PROSPECT being eased in the weights, trainer Fitzroy Glispie has summoned two-kilo claiming apprentice Shamaree Muir, ensuring his five-year-old gelding 51.0 kilos, down from 56.0, as he prepares for another showdown on the lead with HOMBRE.

Cleveland Mitchell's HOMBRE returns with 50.0 kilos, apprentice Prince Holder again in the irons, hoping to reverse the five lengths RAGING PROSPECT had on him when second behind MILITARY MOVE.

However, with the weight difference almost equalised with RAGING PROSPECT, the nine-year-old should find the younger horse a tougher act to follow on the lead.

Champion trainer Wayne DaCosta's EXOTIC GOLD is in at a handy mark of 54.0 kilos following big efforts in last month's Superstakes and Gold Cup.

In fact, the grey mare was closing best of the rest in the Superstakes, as she stayed on to finish three lengths fourth behind TYPEWRITER, PERFECT NEIGHBOUR and COMMANDING CHIEF - beating RAGING PROSPECT by almost six lengths.

She galloped 1:14.4 for six furlongs, fitted with her customary cheek pieces on Boxing Day, and could be RAGING PRFOSPECT's main threat.

However, the handicaps are firmly in RAGING PROSPECT's favour for their rematch. Glispie's gelding carried 57.0 kilos in the Superstakes whereas EXOTIC GOLD had 55.0. Tomorrow, it's the mare who is allowing the gelding, 54-51 kilos.

That's a 12lb swing in RAGING PROSPECT's favour, putting the race at his mercy as he has the jump on both HOMBRE and EXOTIC GOLD at the weights.

Form players should be off to a rollicking start for 2014 as LOCKED AND LOADED and ALL CORRECT should have no problems landing the third and fifth races, respectively.

POTCHEEN, ANNTRACK and JAGSOVER are also confidently expected to land races seven to nine.
