McAnuff mulls Reading future - Reggae Boy yet to be offered new contract

Jobi McAnuff

Reggae Boy midfielder Jobi McAnuff could soon be be left to ponder his future as he is yet to be offered a new contract by English Championship Division team Reading.

The 32-year-old, who has been at the club for the last four seasons, is reported to be in favour of a contract extension, but with six months left on his current contracts admits he may have to consider his prospects.

"At this stage of the season, I have to look at what's best for me moving forward," said McAnuff, who told UK publication getreading.

"If it was up to me, I would remain here. I'm settled here, I'm enjoying my time at the club.

"But that's not all it comes down to, there has to be a willingness on the other side to make that happen."

He added: "I had a chat last season with the manager and I made it clear I was happy at the club.

"It's a situation that is now out of my hands.

I've made my feelings clear

"It's not really up to me to initiate, I've made my feelings clear."

McAnuff recently featured for Jamaica's national team in a failed 2014 World Cup campaign. The player has taken those struggles into the season for the relegated Reading, finding first-team opportunities hard to come by this season. The midfielder, however, insists that his contract situation will not hamper his onfield effort.

"You still go in and work hard.

"But off the pitch more so because I'm coming towards the end of my contract.

"There are a few times when you think, what's the next step?

"I feel as good as I ever have, and I'm looking forward to many more years of playing."
