Sophia Squire It has been a long time coming. Talented local singer Sophia Squire is now making quite a stir in the music industry after being hailed for sometime for her work. The singer has not only been racing up the chart with her single, Love Don't Hurt, but has also recently released a mixtape and is preparing to go on her first solo European tour. After 14 weeks on the chart, the singer-songwriter's Love Don't Hurt, produced by DJ Frass Records on the Diamond and Gold rhythm, peaked at number one on the Jamaica Music Countdown (JMC) chart. The song, which was her first number one song on a music count down chart, jumped two places from the number-three spot in the top 25 reggae single countdown. The humble and soft spoken, former background vocalist of the late Gregory Isaacs, also recently released an official mixtape as part of her drive to spread her music. The mixtape, Spotlight Vol 1, produced by selector CrossFire of Unity Sound, which is based in Japan, has already garnered 10,000 downloads in the few weeks since its release. The singer is now preparing for her first upcoming tour of Europe slated to start February 2014. She is expected to perform in Sweden, Norway and Denmark during the tour. |
