The case against the St James man, who was arrested in connection with liquid cocaine found on the loading ramp at the Sangster International Airport, was deferred until next January when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie yesterday.

Airport ramp attendant Leevan Brown, 30, from Lilliput, had his bail extended until January 8, in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court, as the prosecution's case-file was still incomplete.

Allegations are that on May 31, approximately 3:50 p.m., the investigating officer was on counter-narcotics duty at the Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay, when he saw Brown behaving suspiciously in front of the loading ramp's control panel.

The officer then noticed electric wires protruding from a section of the control panel, and on further inspection, saw a black plastic bag inside. The bag was retrieved and found to contain a tonic bottle with a liquid substance resembling cocaine. Brown was subsequently arrested.

Clerk of the court, Orrett Brown, told RM Tie that the prosecution was still awaiting the original copy of the forensic certificate, and that another document was outstanding.

RM Tie subsequently instructed Brown to return to court on January 8.
