A man who is accused of stealing his cousin's belongings in aid of his newborn, was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with housebreaking and larceny is 25-year-old Kevar McGaw of a Kingston address.

According to reports, McGaw stole a Toshiba television valuing $64,000 and a DVD player valuing $6,500 from the home of the complainant recently.

When asked by Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly Williams why he stole from his cousin, McGaw responded, "I have a newborn and I wasn't working at the time, I'm really sorry for that still, cause a mi cousin."

The complainant told the court that this wasn't the first time the accused stole from him and requested the return of his belongings.

McGaw is to return for sentencing on December 17.
