Mindley expected Windies U-19 recall

West Indies Under-19 opening fast bowler Marquino Mindley says despite playing only two matches in their recent series against Bangladesh, he was confident of getting a recall for the team's reciprocal tour of the sub-continental outfit.

Mindley, who was a member of West Indies Under-19 during the last ICC Youth World Cup in Australia, missed the last five games of the seven-match series against Bangladesh due to injury.

He was also not at his best in the two matches that he played where he claimed two for 15 in the first, and none for 21 in the second.

"Even though I did not get to play most of the Bangladesh matches, I was somewhat confident of getting a recall," said Mindley.

"I have experience, and prior to the injury, though not taking a lot of wickets in the opening two matches, I was bowling pretty well."

The 18-year-old, also said now that he is selected, he is looking forward to going to the subcontinent, and making an impression ahead of next year's Youth World Cup.

"I will be going to Bangladesh to see if I can finish with the most wickets, and take the Player of the Series award," he said.

"It should be difficult, as we will be playing away, but I know what I am capable of and having seen the players they have, I know it is possible."

West Indies lost the seven-game series against Bangladesh 4-3 in Guyana.

Mindley, in the meanwhile, is one of five Jamaicans who have been named to the West Indies 15-man squad.

The others are captain Ramaal Lewis, batsmen Tristan Coleman and Brandon King, and left-arm spinner Fabian Allen.

The Bangladesh reciprocal series, which is set to be West Indies's final before next February's Youth World Cup, will see the teams playing each other in eight one-day matches.

The first is set to start on December 2 with the eighth and final scheduled for December 20.
