Queen's reap double success
RAYMOND GRAHAM, Star Writer

There was double success at the Leila Robinson Netball Courts yesterday for defending champions Queen's in the semi-finals of the Digicel ISSA Schoolgirl Urban Netball competition, as the Marvette Anderson-coached junior and senior teams scored good wins to advance to next Wednesday's finals.

The junior team stopped Camperdown 24-18, while there was a big 45-25 win for their seniors over St Andrew. In the junior final, they will go up against Tarrant, who stopped Norman Manley 20-15, while their seniors will meet St Hugh's, who got past Holy Childhood 34-27.

As expected, it was smooth sailing for the seniors, with goal shooter Shanice Beckford and Khadijah Williams in great form, they raced to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter and extended that lead to 26-13 by half-time.

It was the same story for the remainder of the game as St Andrew's attacking players found it very difficult to get inside their opponent's goal circle

According to winning coach Anderson, the margin of victory was not a surprise.

"This is what we have been working for all season, and I am not surprised by the margin of victory, but it's not over as we have the finals to go, but we are ready for the challenge," said Anderson.

In next Wednesday's games, Queen's juniors will face Tarrant at 4 p.m before their seniors take on St Hugh's at 5 p.m.

The first game of the evening will see Camperdown High juniors taking on Norman Manley at 3 p.m., with St Andrew seniors meeting Holy Childhood at the same time for third and fourth places.
