Some of the country's top netballers will be in action this afternoon at the St Joseph Teachers' College as the four seeded teams in the Inter-collegiate Senior Netball competition, defending champions The Mico University College, the University of West Indies, G.C. Foster College and the University of Technology have advanced to the semi-finals of the competition.

Mico, who will be hoping to make it three wins in a row, will play UTech in one semi-final, while 2010 champions UWI will take on G.C. Foster College in the other. Both games are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m at St Joseph Teachers' College, where the two winners will advance to next Thursday's final to be held at G.C. Foster College.

All four teams have been impressive in advancing, but UWI will start favourites as they have most national players in their line-up. The Conrad Parkes-coached team has the likes of Nadine Bryan, Malysha Kelly, Antoinette Stone and recent MVP of the Fast5 competition Tristina Harwood in their line-up.

The defending champions, who have lost six of their top players from last year's winning team, will be hard pressed to retain their title but national Under-21 captain and Fast5 representative Vangalee Williams will be hoping to lead from the front.

After a long drought, the C Lloyd Walker-coached G.C. Foster College team will be hoping to get back into the winners enclosure, and will rely heavily on former national goal shooter Elaine Davis. Davis, along with national Under-19 player Deneen Taylor, will be hoping to first get by favourites UWI in a bid to advance to the final.

The likes of Keneisha Sherwood and Chevelle Riley will be hoping to come up with something special for UTech over Mico. There will also be quarter-final action in both the Junior and Intermediate leagues.
