Jamaica sprint sensation Yohan Blake has paid tribute to Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who ended an illustrious career after playing the West Indies in his 200th Test last week.

Blake, a well-know disciple of the sport of cricket, hailed the batting great for his many achievements on the field, but also praised the batsman for his humility.

"I want to say that he has left a legacy for everyone to follow. He is a humble man who has touched many people around the world. I hope they will follow in his footsteps," Blake told overseas publication NDTV(http://sports.ndtv.com).

charity games

Blake, the 2011 World Champion, has often put on his cricket gear for charity games and expressed an interest in playing the sport at the top level for a couple of years. The sprinter has revealed that one of his dreams would be to bowl a ball to the Indian star.

"I remember the first time I was given the opportunity to speak to him, I told him that I wanted to bowl to you. I felt so honoured because Sachin is truly one of my childhood heroes," he said.

"For a man to go out with 200 Test matches under his belt and over 15,000 runs, I have to salute him for that."

"I wish him the best with his life after cricket. I bid him farewell and thank him for all he has done to inspire me and so many others," he added.
