Just listen to Let's Have A Party and you soon realise he can flow bar to bar with the best young deejays in the game today. "I just want people to recognise me for me. I give thanks for my grandfather who set the musical legacy for us to follow on, but I want to make it on my own steam. I am not trying to ride on the great legacy he created, I want to add to it," he said. Famous Twenty is third-generation reggae royalty as he is the grandson to the late great Alton Ellis. However, he is not relying only on his superstar genes to push him to stardom, he believes in hard work and determination. Born Cary O'Connor on September 25, 1981 in Kingston, he was raised by both parents, Georgia Ellis and Courtney O'Connor. He grew up in Kingston 12, also known as Trench Town. Famous Twenty's mother was a pretty good singer, and she has played a key role in his decision to pursue his fortune in the music business. "Seeing my mother sing all the time was a big part of my motivation, she always inspired me to dance and do the music that is deep-rooted in his family, so the legacy lives on," he said. |
