'Hot Head' gets busy in the kitchen

For many, the sight of the 'hot head' artiste slaving over a hot stove might seem surreal, but that is exactly what happened as Busy Signal invited us into his 'Turf' kitchen for a mouth watering taste of his boiled yam, potatoes and salted fish and sardine with brown jasmine rice.

Giving us a lesson in 'cooking 101', Busy was ready to show off his culinary skills to the world. After washing his hands and utensils, the deejay prepped for the meal by cutting up his yam and the vegetables to be served with the salted fish.

A mild dilemma occurred, however, when Busy was ready to light the stove. After several tries, the stove finally cooperated and the pot of yam and potatoes was quickly bubbling.

Several selectors, artistes and producers also passed through, which forced Busy to prepare more food than he initially planned.

With his friends checking occasionally to ensure that the food preparation was coming on smoothly, another dilemma suddenly popped up.

"Mi want half stick of butter. A who nyam off di butter?," Busy inquired. The day was saved by a colleague who went and bought the butter and brought it to him.

With the aroma of the peppers, onion and tomato and salted fish permeating the atmosphere, everyone started swarming the kitchen.

"Food done?" DJ Delano from Renaissance inquired.

"Nuh yet. It soon done though," Busy replied.

Soon it was time to present the meal which he shared with DJ Delano, but before that, Busy Signal said a prayer, thanking God for his food and for all his blessings.

Delano had nothing but high praises for Busy's cooking.

Check out a video of Busy's cooking experience online at www.jamaica-star.com.
